I really enjoyed the other Divinity games, so I preordered this; now really regret doing so. The characters are colourful, but two of the generals are assholes. The Risk style overmap is interesting, with cards providing vast differences in power at times. This can be a real problem if you are doing badly or a real asest if you are doing well. The RTS section is just shit; here's why: I started the first battle of the game and started clicking on stuff to discover what it does. However within the first minute, the enemy had already invaded my side and all I was presented with were some tutorial videos; I didn't even notice them until I'd already lost. The first battle in ANY game should be piss easy and give you all the time you want to explore every little thing, with the conclusion being forgone in the players favour. In conclusion, while there are a lot of interesting points, there are just as many really shitty design choices in this game. I don't recommend it.

You manage resources, build ships, conduct research and watch the story unfold. Full 3d environment RTS's are quite rare and this is one of them; the ai is mostly 2 dimensional in it's strategy, but you can go right around their assest on any axis. I really enjoyed the story in this and the ending. The only thing I was disappointed with, is the fact that you cannot play any of the alien races in skirmish or multiplayer... only Malus or Alyssian.

As soon as the enemies get rocket launchers, it gets stupidly hard. Rockets fire just as fast a psyonic device or sniper rifle, which means you have no chance to take them down, except by being at the far end of the map, using sniper rifles ... or healing after every single rocket enemy. Even with the best armour, bio armour, you get party wiped by 2 hits from any rocket!
