It booted just fine on my Windows 11 PC though there is no high resolutions past what the game released with. Highest is 1280x1024 I believe. There is a patch in an official support page I have found. I downloaded it but have yet to use it. I had some issues with playing on my Linux Mint laptop using Lutris, But turning on dgvoodoo2 in the Lutris settings got things going. Which is a setting for old school games and it ran just fine afterwards. I have good memory's of this game. I do wish there was more mods and community support for this game like there is with Sim City 4 which is a better game in many ways but was super slow on my old PC back in the day. Heck even with my RTX 2060 Super and Win 11 this game by itself still seems to still stutter when a lot is going on but only for a second or two then it is back to full speed for a bit.
There was a lot to like about this game, I have yet to finish it... it's not because of dislike of the game, but a tirade of bugs in the latest version I have after I had to reinstall.... I might have an older copy of the game that I might try to install, however this version I have just seems so buggy. On my main PC, an ASUS Strix RTX 2060 Super & a Ryzen 9 12-Core. I have been having constant hangs at cutscenes & just really random bugs I just never experienced with the older offline installer version I had of this game. Reinstalled & cleared files for the game to see if the bugs would go away and they did not. Some saves would hang in scenes that others would not, it was totally random. I hear in some of the reviews that it could be it needs to have an internet connection. However, this being listed as DRM free, that really should not be an issue. If it is, these issues need to be fixed, I travel sometimes so internet is not always there. For some reason as well, this version is unplayable on my brand new 2022 notebook, yet the older version works fine my other laptop from 2008 on low. Even Skyrim SE on low works on my Notebook at almost 60fps so that should not be an issue... I would recommend this game IF these bugs were fixed, however right now this version even on my main gaming PC the game is almost less unplayable the Skyrim at launch, due to the game breaking bugs especially if you can't or haven't saved beforhand..... Worse is the game doesn't CTD but gets stuck at the cutscenes and needs to be closed out manually. Great game, but it has been plagued with bugs at least for me since I needed to update my systems. I really do hope they patch these issues soon, as it was a fun game when it did work. Combat is fun & the cult building was great as well. Though I do wish it had more to add, felt like it was way too easy to build up your cultspace.....So I can't recommend this until they fix these bugs at the very least.
This game is great! This is an excellent RPG, that will fill your RPG bloodlust. The game is very pollished and runs very good (as I experienced) even on some VERY old hardware. Thanks to it being DRM free, I managed to not just install, but PLAY it on my classic PC (my very FIRST PC I ever personally owned). Running on a retro AMD Athlon XP 2200+ Model A Socket 462 CPU, a most likely bottlenecked EVGA GeForce 6200, Seasonic S12 II 430Watt PSU, 2GB of DDR1 3200 installed Dual-Channel RAM without any issues. The case is 80's/90's business white, runs on Windows XP Pro SP2, is cooled by 3 LED 80mm fans, sounds like a jet, and has dual 40GB IDE HDDs.... I managed to run at 30FPS at full 1920x1080p via DVI-I to HDMI on a 21:9 2560x1080p monitor with all settings on low. This game is darn optimized and is worth playing! I could even run it at 2560x1080p but Windows XP does not like ultrawide monitors :), and Witcher is not a slouch when it comes to graphics.
