My father got me into Heroes of might and Magic when i was just a little girl, maybe 4 or 5. I was completely enamored with the characters, sprites, the aesthetics. I was a lotr kid as well, but i think this game really cemented the kind of fantasy that i would be obsessed with for the past 20 years. I remember vividly having to put in the separate install and play discs. Heroes V would even have multiple install discs as i recall. There was a time when i thought this game was lost to me, the discs beyond usability from years of wear. So glad that GOG exists, since the steam port of this game is trash from what i've read. The music, the art, the voiceovers with the opening cutscene. It all takes me back to that time when i was just a little girl. Beyond the nostalgia factor, this game holds up way better than i had even hoped. I had only wanted to maybe spend a couple hours reminiscing over the castle creatures, maybe play a few scenarios, lose cause i never learned how to play this game properly, and that would be enough for me. On the contrary, i will definitely be spending many many more hours, hammering away at the demonic and necrotic hordes in the name of Erathia. Truly an incredible game, and i even only just learned about the extensive modding scene that will keep things fresh and have me coming back for more.
