Door Kickers: Action Squad

Cute and brutal

Clear a small level of bad guys, proceed to next level. The challanges come in the form of: multiple bad guys, which way to enter the room and sometimes trial and error (dark room, on which side of the room is the bad guy that just shot me). Great content: several characters, upgrade tree, online coop multiplayer, tight action, nice pixel art, fun idea, nice music, soundtrack included!, level editor included. Personally not interesting to after 30 minutes, that's why the 3/5 rating. Sorry, game. It's me, not you. :)

Caesar

City builder with charming pixelart

A bit harsh to go back to a 1992 interface, but charming pixelart and lovely midi music. Tips: - read the manual for info. - the US version seems to have more features and the manual talks about interface button seen in the US version.

Police Quest 3 - The Kindred

half nostalgic review

Somehow it's very relaxing to play 1990-1994 PC games. They are slow paced and have charming midi music. I play this game with a walkthrough: i read a paragraph and then follow that instruction in the game. That's how recent games work anyway ;) Sometimes I don't follow the instructions immediately (I'm not speed running) and look around the room and items and talk to people I see.

Worms Forts: Under Siege

Does 3D work for Worms?

I'm still not sure if 3D works for Worms. I think it might, but we still have to see one executed as perfect as Mario 2D to Mario 64. Worms 2 still plays the best, but it's interesting to experience this game in 3D. Forts are a nice idea. This game feels like a big DLC, or a mod. The campaign did not interest me much and the speed of the match is slow :( Drink a beer, watch the computer worm take its turn and then you try to conquer the controls and 3D space. That's how I experience it. 4/5 stars! :D

Grandmaster Chess

chess from 1992 <3

Chess with visual options (4 styles, 2D or 3D) and gameplay options: difficulty, give hints, go back a few turns and save a match. It's cute to play games from 1992.

Severed Steel

FEAR + Trepang

no story, only stylistic shooting in slomo. I'm glad you can use slo mo a lot. In FEAR the slomo was too limited. You play in a small level that has 3-4 rooms and you either shoot something to continue or destroy all soldiers.

ARMA: Gold Edition

Slow and interesting

I came from Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising to this game and it's still good and interesting. Tips: - In the first destroy-convoy-mission, check your car to get more mines and rockets. - You can lower the difficulty of the AI to match it to OFDR. - In the armory you can see all units, weapons and vehicles and try them out.

Worms 2

fun, cute, plays very well

If you don't like turn based, remember that this goes fast. 3 vs 3 rounds is over in 5-10 minutes. Funny and still plays very good Plus: nice zoom feature with mouse scroll

Carmageddon Max Pack

Classic - still good

I don't know why exactly but this game from 1997 is still fun and good in 2024 You can play it in nostalgic pixelated software mode, or Voodoo-card enabled

Carmageddon TDR 2000

early 2000 nostalgia

I've never tried TDR 2000, so it's nice to experience an early 2000 game. This is the only Carmageddon game where your car doesn't feel like it's gliding on ice, but I don't really like the missions. So I only did a few free runs, or whatever it is called. The highlight of the game is when you see cars flying and crashing around you.
