Frostpunk

Boring and unrealistic

The idea sounds promising - a city builder and survival game in a steampunk setting. However, the game very quickly becomes a drag and just isn't fun to play. Here are some of the issues I have with this game: - Temperature jumps are completely random and make no sense. The developers didn't even pretend to create something like a real weather model. Temperatures are always in tens of degrees celsius, so it's either exactly -40, -50, -60 or -70 degrees. Jumps by 20 deg often occur within seconds, and it is often warmer at night and gets colder while the sun comes up. - The behavior of your people makes no sense. When the temperature drops drastically, you have no choice but to to crank up the generator or people will freeze to death and important buildings will shut down. Naturally, your city consumes more coal now, which will not be sustainable for long, so there is only one right reaction imaginable in this scenario: adding emergency shifts in the coal mines. but guess what - your people don't like it, and threaten to depose you over it... would they rather freeze to death? - Many buildings looks quite similar. They also have to be built very closely together. This has the effect that once your city gets a little bigger, you will be spending much of your time trying to find something on the colorless and bland map. - Building roads is often fun in other city builders.... but not here. You are very restricted in how to lay out your city, and the roads are just an unnecessary, annoying extra that doesn't add any value. It almost feels like the devs added building roads just because all city builders have it. - The music is unbearable. After an hour I had to turn it off. - It#s poorly optimized... despite having a very powerful machine, the game was always laggy for me and reducing the gaphic settings did nothing. - It's annoying that the Frostpunk 2 ad comes up every time you start the game.
