I'm a fairly new player, about 700 hours across several saves. I'm a confirmed sci-fi guy, since I picked up my first such story in paperback; and grew up during the space race. Saw " 2001: A Space Odyssey' in the theater when released. Somewhere on the 'net I read the devs wanted to create a game that made you feel that you were in a sci-fi movie, waking up after a crash or whatever, not knowing where you are or how you got there. I believe they succeeded. Gameplay includes the storylines, numerous side missions, so many cool ships to find, while exploring all the way. Combat is fun and can get challenging, especially planet-side. Stargate fans may enjoy the similarity of stargates to NMS's portals. Money-wise, best bang for the buck, in my opinion. All updates (and included new items) are free. Compare to titles like 'Stellaris" that can run well over $200 for all the content. I'm very happy with my purchase. It's worth full price, and at the current sale price, it's a must buy. Enjoy!
