SoC is as great a spiritual successor to classic HoMM games as it is a stand-alone game. If you're not put off by the steep learning curve, SoC offers an interesting, complex and rewarding gaming experience. All the options available feel balanced and well thought-out, there are plenty of unique and curious strategy mechanics. Even as the years go by, SoC keeps me coming back for more and more.
