I enjoy rpg's, but I was hesitant to play Torment because I had never played a D&D game before (I started gaming in the KOTOR era). Hearing others talk of the story convinced me, and man am I glad they did. Torment showed me how a game can tell a story interactively in a way that books or movies never will be able to. In fact, Torment had a higher learning curve for me than many games because it was almost more novel than game. Combat is definitely secondary in Torment, but honestly it was refreshing. The focus on conversation over violence (assuming you choose it) felt much deeper than simply carving a bloody path through another fantasy world. At any rate, I heartily recommend this game, both to die-hard crpg fans (if for some reason you haven't played it yet) as well as to younger gamers like myself. You won't be disappointed.
