One of my favorite games of all time. I'm so glad that the complete edition has been preserved on GOG after the original source code was lost after 3DO/NWC was acquired by Ubisoft. This version is vastly superior to the HD version available on Steam, which is only the base game and lacks many of the features from the expansions (most notably the Random Map Generator and the Conflux faction, but there's so much else, too). hell, I even have a CD-ROM copy of this game, but it doesn't play very well with modern OS, so without GOG I wouldn't be able to play at all. this game is one of the absolute classics of the 4X genre and I'll be playing it til the day I die
