FoxTail

Lots of potential

I absolutely loved the art style and music of FoxTail. The characters are beautifully illustrated and the scenes are incredibly immersive and detailed. The story is charming, but some of the dialog feels stale and forced. Some of the puzzles are just way too difficult. Even on "easy" mode, I often found myself saying "OK, what the heck do I do now?" after trying what seemed like literally every option. Example: the smoke stack. Totally understood the object of the puzzle. In my possession, i have about 4 items that could've "worked" to accomplish this. Ball? Newspaper? Tin can? Rag? C'mon. As a fan of the 90s LucasArts games that inspired this one, sure, these types of games shouldn't be completely intuitive and easy, but there's a certain (subtle) communication that happens between the game designer and player through hints and storytelling. At times this communication felt broken in FoxTail, which can be super frustrating. On the bright side, the beautiful game art DID make exploring fun even if I was out of ideas of what to do next. Looking forward to more updates, keep up the great work.
