If you don't know the first game, just forget about to start the game. At those times weren't tutorials, or simple UI, where every button has definite functions. Even if you know the first game you should read the game's user manual, to learn the game mechanics, and need a lot of playing to master it. But, if you give it a try, it will shows why it is one of the best turn based tactical battle simulator (I don't call it strategy).
