Nebuchadnezzar

Solid title with lots of potential

The regular updates have made Nebuchadnezzar a very solid game as of early '23. The mechanics are tight and fit the genre well. Religion system is a nice departure from the Impressions series while the game retains much of the same flavor and layout. Having played all of the Impressions titles (Ceaser, Pharaoh, Zeus, etc), this makes a lovely callback to them and is thoroughly enjoyed. And, even better, it runs native on Linux; a definite plus 1. The only downside is the lack of an immersive story in the campaign; the historical references are interesting and fun, but you play the game because you want to play this type of game, not because you feel hooked into completing your climb to the top of ancient Mesopotamia. It sounds like the developers are working on a mission pack to enhance this; hoping they release it on GOG as that would be quite fun and this is a game that's worth add-ons. Overall, I'd say 4.5/5, additional content could help, but very playable and worth the investment. Highly recommended.
