I love that now I can play the original RE1 legally, but it seems that Capcom does not care about its own history. They could have used AI to upscale all low res backgrounds and CGI. They could also have added the Director's Cut difficulties. Shame on you Capcom. Congrats to GOG for at least trying to preserve games.
When you play this gem, you get where all the tropes used in 1996 Resident Evil and Amnesia came from.
It's an indie game, with tamed expectations you may have fun with it. I did.
