Fallout

Outstanding Game!

Oddly, I had never played Fallout or Fallout 2 even though I've invested 100s or even 1000s of hours into Fallout 3, Fallout NV and Fallout 4. It truthfully took a minute to remember how to play this style game again but then I got into it and had an absolute blast! If you haven't played it before, its highly recommended if for nothing more than playing for the lore value of the game, but the game itself is a lot of fun as well.

BATTLETECH - Flashpoint

BATTLETECH

This has been one of my favorite genres over the years. Overall, Battletech was pretty good, however it was very buggy and had some serious performance problems initially. Some of the problems have been fixed, some have not. While the storyline was very good, I personally felt that it was way to short, especially at the initial price of the game. The new Season Pass is out with the first DLC, but at $50 USD it seems way overpriced for DLC for a game that was already too short to begin with. In all honesty, after what we got with Season Passes for half that amount for games like Witcher 3 and other top notch games, I thinking they may want to reconsider their price point, it just seems their price is over the top...

Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition

Outstanding!

Pillars of Eternity is, very simply, an outstanding game. No, it's not on the same order of magnitude as The Witcher 3, or Inquisition, but that's because it's an entirely different style game. Being able to read is an important aspect of the game; without reading any of the content some people contend the game "seems flat". It is by no means flat, it is a very rich and immersive game, but again you need to take the time to read though the content; it isn't all laid out for you on a silver platter. Deductive reasoning is also a very handy skill to have for the game, or you can simply buy a "How to Play" guide and miss out on the rich tapestry Obsidian has woven. Pillars is essentially an old school RPG, and it is a truly outstanding game in its class and genre. If you want Quicktime events, poorly written scripts, tons of "Go and fetch" quests, in-game financial transactions, digital sex scenes, or a game that tells you what to do every step of the way, then this game probably isn't for you. If, on the other hand, you want a well scripted, thought provoking game then Pillars of Eternity should definitely be on your short list. Well done Obsidian! I'm really hoping for a Pillars II.
