One could forgive the bland characters and the bad plot if the strategy part was done correctly but Druistone is not a strategy game. Every single mission has a timer or endless waves of spawning enemies, turning each level into a puzzle in which you have to figure out the optimal way of moving your characters and complete each round. If you like a series of timed puzzle scenarios instead of strategy, that's the game for you.
I recently came back to GWENT and I'm really happy with the changes after beta. The game play is more intuitive, more fluid and it focused on main game strategies rather than recruiting or random effects. The decision to make it two lanes also made the interface cleaner and it is much better to understand the game state. The reward system was also much improved, along with statistics and achievements. The game looks better with the bigger cards, the leaders on the battlefield, two lanes and the new premium cards are just beautiful to look at, not to mention all the music. I was really happy and decided to buy Thronebreaker and to pre-order the new expansion, I'm really enjoying myself right now. Do consider coming back if you are on the fence.
