Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

A good game that needed more time

It's a good game but it's not polished. The first two chapters were fine, a few frustrating mechanics that needed more tuning & testing, some bugs but overall a good experience. After chapter two the game really fell down hard. Bugs became more frequent. Mechanics like space combat & colonies felt more tedious than enjoyable. Both could one day be really good if they release an update or a dlc that focuses on these mechanics. The story is really good but after act two, characters could in one dialogue praise me as a saviour and in the next dialogue they could curse & question my loyalty. Now this is something not everyone will experience, it has to do with the choices I made and I will not go into these choices, because spoilers. But it felt very unrewarding that characters could have such very split personalities towards me. It also felt like some parts of information was not given to me. Characters jumped to conclusions that did not line up with the information that was given. Also information that should have a huge impact could not be used in conversations during some dialogue conflicts with characters in your party. It feels unfinished & not tested properly after Act 2. A classic example of bite off more than one can chew”.

A Plague Tale: Innocence

A visually beautiful & immersive game

It's a linear story driven game about two siblings that have not had much contact with each other growing up because of the younger boy's illness, they now have to survive together when a plague is sweeping through the home region. The gameplay is basic but at the same time rich in its own way. Your main tool is your sling & you unlock different ammunition so you can progress the liner story. 99% of the time there is only one way to solve world puzzles & when it comes to fighting enemies you basically have two options, sneak past or kill. With the latter the easiest option. I enjoyed the gameplay but the game is less focused on gameplay mechanics & more focused on story. A good comparison would be the game Hellblad Senua’s Sacrifice. That's also a game that was more focused on storytelling than gameplay mechanics. Many people’s opinion is that Hellblade lacks gameplay. My opinion is that the gameplay it has is very rich if you really learn it. It’s that same thing with A Plague Tale in my opinion. It’s simple but well designed. I loved this game & had to buy the second game straight away.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2

By the God Emperor, buy this game

My PC spec Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4 Ram: 32GB (2666MHz) GPU: Asus GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming OC V2 10GB CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3,7GHz It's a solid, good game. The singleplayer campaign is fun. At first it looked very small & barebone but you unlock a lot more the more you play. More sectors, enemies & events. You can also Co-op the campaign, I’ve not tried it so can’t say more then it’s an option.. The game has one flaw that takes away two stars & that’s the absence of a battle replay function. A way to watch & freely move around on the map just observing the battle you just fought. Like the function Total War & (I think) Battlestar Galactica Deadlock have. You don’t have the time to appreciate & zoom in on the battle while playing, you’re too focused on controlling your ships. It’s a huge flaw in my opinion. Strategy games like this should have a replay function. Otherwise all the developers' hard work in making the game look good go to waste. The game looks great & they have captured the WH40k universe perfectly The soundtrack is good as well. The game rruns without any problems.

Jotun: Valhalla Edition

Short & Beautiful

The game is short which is not a bad thing, I like it. I finished it in four and a half hours. It tells a story about a viking & norse mythology. The game is mostly walking around solving puzzles, the puzzles are not hard. There are six boss fights and they are not that hard either. It's a beautiful atmospheric game that I think is worth the money and time.

Dishonored 2

Performance issues

I have 22h played time in this game when I write this, 20 of the hours are me trying to get the game running. So I have basically not played it. I write this review now just in case someone else have problem with the performance. My Spec is: GTX 1080 Ryzen 5 2600X 3,6GHz 16GB Ram I had problemes with frame drops & stuttering, these problems where not that bad at the first mission. But at mission two everything went to hell. At the end I managed to get a stable 60FPS but the stuttering is not completley gone, it's playable for me though. I followed two youtube videos to get this to work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZrnfWpENTo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsXFUVYPIx4 The first one help you set up Nvidia Control Panel in a more optical way, for me this helped. He have one for Nvidia & AMD GPUs. The second video will help you find a stable FPS. Make this game run well might required you to play around with the games settings a lot, it took me 20h to find fixes that worked for me. Hopefully the two links will help someone to make this game run. Good Luck

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

Good story but have frustrating problems

Some of my PC spec. CPU: AMD FX-Series FX-8350 4,0GHz GPU: GeForce GTX 1080 8GB RAM: 16GB I have not finished the game yet because after 33h (got to Act 4) I got to frustrated by the bugs and some card designs, that I can't be asked to finish it right now. The games story and how it is told it great. It is dark and it feels like a witcher game. The characters and the dialogue are good and the chooses the game gives you are interesting and sometimes hard to choose from. One lesser evil for another. But there is some really annoying bugs and problems in the game right now. I would recommend you to go to the forum and see what the state of the game is before you buy it. As of now when I write this the game stops to work if you look in you deck and then end/pass the turn. Sound is still working but nothing happens, the enemy is not taking it's turn and you can't click on anything. The game keeps stuttering sometimes when you are walking around in the world and when you play gwent it stutters after you press the end/pass button for a few seconds. soem peopel say that you can fix this by turning off some online setting but it did not work for me. Some cards are worded very poorly or do not work as intended. One example is that there is a card that will get a buff for each enemy card that takes damage but if you use a card that deal damage to more then one card it only regester as 1 instead of the x cards you damage. So I recommend you to look in the forum before buying it but if you are a person that can live through the frustration go for it, it is a good story in the game.

SOMA

What is life and what makes you you?

A good game that asks the questions "what is life and what makes you you?". The game is mostly you walking around and finding stuff so you can get to the next area, reading data logs and listening to recordings to undersand the world and some horror elements that is mostly scare jumps and hiding in corners and wishing that you were somewhere else. There is some choice making but I not sure how much it effect the ending. The world and atmosphere is great I was very intrested in finding out more about the world and what have happend.
