FTL: Advanced Edition

Not for me

Read the 5 star reviews, but this game is... not fun. Started on Normal, got no where, tried Easy and finally made it to the end stage (of the first level, I don't know?) and was wiped out by the boss. How you're supposed to level up enough to survive isn't down to skill but pure luck it seems and that for me isn't much fun. At least I bought it on sale so didn't waste too much on it.

Transistor

Other reviews already said it

Beautiful to look at, and a nice soundtrack - although it doesn't changeup during combat, just the same lounge music throughout, which makes combat less enjoyable somehow - there's no sense of urgency. There wasn't enough substance to the game to make it enjoyable, for me at least. Felt like a linear interactive story, not a whole lot in terms of game play that affected the end result one way or another.

Bastion

Little disappointing

This, like Transistor, is more an interactive story than game. You get led along a path, get some gear/abilities along the way, but there's not real challenge and at the end I didn't even care about the story anymore. Looks good, sounds good, but... meh.

CARRION

Great little horror game

Pretty much everything in this game is spot on - music, sound effects, visuals, gameplay and the puzzles/combat encounters. I would've liked it to have gone on a bit further - once you get the last "ability" there are no challenges to use it, even though it's hinted at earlier in the game. Perhaps there will be a sequel which expands on this? I hope so!

STASIS

In a word: Tedious.

I read the positive reviews of this game and expected something great. Unfortunately, while is looks good and plays fairly well, the puzzles and logic are at times incredibly frustrating; the vast amount of text you read through looking for clues/guidance only to find out nothing, don't add to the wonky storyline. All that said, the best thing about this game is the numerous ways to die.
