A good story held back by gameplay

The story is good, and overall the game is well made. However, some minor annoyances which I noticed during gameplay: * main character would be overly verbose explaing obvious things which needed to be done in the game ("feels like something is missing" ... for the fifth time) * Unclear at which points we needed to crouch or hold breath or both, and whether I needed to actually hide or not * Story was a bit hard to follow until closer to the end - characters names were coming up but I had forgotten who they were or if I knew them already by this point * Achievements were literally popping up every twenty minutes sometimes one then another one seconds later - kinda hurt the immersion a bit * Unnecessary naming of 'powers' when they are really just mechanics to get past a couple of obstacles. Named powers would make more sense if we could unleash them more often and there were more enemies. To just move some books a few times? Don't need to call it SPIRIT BLAST or something! * I found it hard to tell if characters were talking - their mouth movement was very unclear. * It feels soooo frustrating not being able to run all the time. It's just dragging the game out - doesn't matter if the game becomes shorter this way. Otherwise sections feel like a chore expecially when there is not much to interact with so you're just trudging forward begging for the section to be over. More serious issues which affected me which will hopefully be patched out: * Extreme slowdowns in certain scenes, stuttering performance issues throughout * Why isn't DX12 the MAIN executable in GOG? I couldnt work out why raytracing was missing and every time I loaded the game I had forgotten to choose the DX12 one so had to quit and reload. Have DX12 the main one but raytracing off by default so we get an improved experience. * Audio completely missing in the last 'lake' part of game and cutscene - that sucked! Overall - worth buying if you like the genre but it could have been even better!

Fast paced violence done well!

I backed this on Kickstarter and it's proven to be more than worth it - fast paced, gory, impactful sound effects, awesome music, cool enemy design, amazing visual style (ability to choose between 2d and 3d enemies is neat), good level design... so much to like! Very little for me to critique - I've noticed some performance issues even on my 3090, but they're not common, and the menus feel kunky - having to press continue twice to get past one screen for example. Can't wait for more! If you like Quake, Doom, etc this is a must buy!

Had potential

This game wasn't as good as I'd hoped unfortunately but has some cool ideas and nice graphics in places. Issues which make the game feel rushed: - The movement feels like you're bouncing - your cursor moves but you don't, and it means your head goes through all the doors - The main character model is childish compared to others in the game - This isn't really a puzzle game - there are about three puzzles and everything else is just explained to you (exactly how to make mixture etc) - It felt like a series of disconnected tiny levels rather than one big connected story - It lacked any kind of ending - One or two of the mini games are just frustrating rather than nostalgic (the zombie one!) - Confusing story to begin with - not enough introduction to this world you're in The good things: - Graphics are nice overall but there is too much bloom and lights go through walls and sometimes makes things look fuzzy - The story started to develop and get me interested the more I played - The world and ideas are great - cool levels, story concepts, lovecraftian themes etc Conarium felt more polished overall to me, however I must give respect to any developer trying to make a game like this - difficult material to work with - just the gameplay didn't do this one any favours.

Mind-bending!

There simply arent enough games like this! Games where you don't know why or what or how. I made plenty of assumptions throughout but never had a handle on things and that's the kind of game which stands out for me. Leaves a little question mark open in your mind rather than 'done and dusted'. Definitely going to keep an eye out for more from this Dev too.

Great game

Had a blast with this game - the concept, visuals, sound etc are all great. However I feel it should let you fast travel at the end of the game - backtracking is a nightmare for finding the things I missed and there isn't a map or anything
