Reminds me of "Constantine" from the Hellblazer comics for the context of the story and for the characters. Very good story... Very good characters... Very bad villains ;-) Very dark and beautiful at the same time. Unforgettable
It is exactly the same game as published by Atari. It is not a real development/remake... it is a patched version. It is patched/cracked to work on modern OS, that's it. And it works fine on modern OSes. For the issue with the language... By default, it in German but there's a little language setting program that allows you to select the language. It is in the galaxy menu and in the game folder (lang.bat)
This game is a strange mix of child/dream/nightmare story and puzzles not always easy. As puzzles, you will find a puzzle inspired by IQ test, a puzzle using permutations, word play puzzles, a chess puzzle, a cyptic code puzzle, catching the right thing into the screen, and so on. Maybe, this game tries to talk to our childhood but with some not-so-eazy puzzles. Someone beginner in this kind of game can be often stuck. The dream ambient is well done. Sometimes the music is missing. And there's a little scare ;-) I finished it personally in less than five hours but if you are stuck it can take you more time to finish. It is devided into eigth levels and you can replay each level indepentenlty.
First of all the localization is not complete. There are two help menus for the user. The one which is translated is useless because it is intended for a phone/pad application with screentouch. The other one which is not translated is incomplete. Finally, when trying to play, you understand that you only need the arrow keys to play. The mouse with a very enormous cursor is only intended for the menus and the menus are hardly responsive or it is hard to figure out where to click. Then you can play. The order of difficulties Eazy/Hard/Relax is strange. Personally, I can't understand the difference between eazy and relax. I play Hard and today I am on level 43. The levels are interesting and this is the only good point of the game. Recommanded to people who like pure puzzle games (it is the reason why I bought this game) without paying attention to the interface. In this state, don't buy it full price.
The game seems interesting but you must tame it. For instance, when you pronounce correctly LUMEH THIAL the game reckognizes your spell but, becareful French people and others... LUMEH THIAL must be pronounced the anglosaxon way... TH is not T and the A is open and U is like OU. For players not having a microphone, it works also with a webcam. I tested it ;-). I think there will be lots of people who will say: the speech reckognition does not work. In fact, it works fine but to learn the spells, think about it, it is an anglosaxon game and the ponounciation is anglosaxon. One thing more, pay attention, there are some glitches. Once I went through a wall and I started falling without dying. I had to reload the last save game.
First quick opinion The graphics are strange not very scary... Difficult to understand. Then there's a blocking bug I hope that it will be fixed. When you have two screens, your real mouse cursor (not the game cursor) can appear on the second screen. If you click at that moment the game window gets minimized and the only thing you can do is to kill the process. This happens easily when you have to move in the stairway of the game beginning.
This is not the original game from 2004. It is a kind of a port to modern OS with many changes in the game play. For instance, it seems to be a simplified version of the original game. As I have seen from the first hour of playing, all the mini games which were part of the game play have vanished. It is a deception. Yes the original game has difficulties to play on modern OS but why creating a so bland version ? It is a lazy version of the game.
