Good Cause

I'm buying it and giving it 5* because of the good cause it is supporting. Keep it up GOG!

Psi 5 Trading Company

Sci-Fi (FTL) fans take note of this one

Hint: Use the first letter of the word you wish to select as a shortcut rather than using arrows, it's way faster ;) Had this game when I was young, played it for hours on my older brother's Amstrad computer. Words cannot express how good it felt to be in command of a spaceship, pick it's crew, destination, route and priorities. Took 6-yr old me weeks just to figure out how to get the ship moving, let alone making it to the closest destination (easiest setting). This game is a challenge already on the 2nd setting, the hardest one is just brutal. Take the time to read the backgrounds of your crew. Do you want a loner with a temper who has no problem getting things done without your input or do you prefer a nicer team-player who is rubbish at one particular task? The vast possibilities and the high level of control are it's highlights. It's weaknesses are obvious. I used to play this on a black and white monitor, at least now it has some color but don't expect too much from the graphics. The sound is both primitive and repetitive, I end up making it barely audible. The technical limitations are tangible and each task requires constant maneuvering between menus. The 5/5; even though it has technical limitations, it's a blast from the past.

SYMMETRY

Simple Space Survival Simulator

I got it for Free. Played it till I finished it on "easy" and uninstalled it. Like it a lot. Difficulty settings explained: Be Brave - easy; Try Harder - harder than easy Looking for a niche Survival in a Space setting? This is the game for you! The simple resource management mechanics will have you trying to look at both sides of the screen at the same time while desperately trying to keep everyone alive. It's easier said then done but the achievement of finishing it is incredible. The story is ambitious but the ending is only ok-ish. Few hours of fun, give it a spin.

Hexen II

Good Old Game Indeed

This game is one of my personal Golden Classics, along with X-Com Ufo Defense, Fallout 2 and Diablo. I bought it within the first minute I saw it release here - ZERO regrets. It works like a charm on my RX580 4GB with Windows 10. Hint: from the Options menu switch ON always run and change RMB from jump (space bar) to something more useful like interact or use item. I can recall being young and without Internet but had found a guide to this game, I was determined to see it to the end. Oh boy, I was in for a the ride of my life! Took me more than a year to get it done on the easiest difficulty with the Assassin playing it after school with a magazine walk-through by my side. This one of the hardest games I've ever completed. An episode I'll never forget is when the Crystal Golem punched my character (Necro) so hard it decapitated him and I ended up looking sideways at my own headless body on the floor. This game belongs to the Hall of Fame.

Grim Dawn

Modern twist on Diablo

Picked Grim Dawn on Sale and left it there to linger for a year or two. Recently picked up Diablo 1 & Hellfire and started playing it. Diablo 1 is the first rpg I loved but nowadays it's a bit technologically impaired due to it's age. So I changed to Grim Dawn and it was a worthy addition! The story is excellent (or great) it adds to the flavor of the game. The game-play is unique enough to be fresh but familiar enough to be accessible. Finally, it's Great Fun! Experimentation is not penalized too much while the usual tactics are still valid. Pick it up at the first opportunity and give it an honest try, the only disappointment is going to be that you didn't pick it up earlier :)

Thief™ 2: The Metal Age

Walk softly and stick to the shadows

This game is one of my favorite games ever, period. Be ready to experience one of genre-defining games. It set the standard for what Stealth FPS should be, Thief OG was good but this one is the real deal. This game is one of my fondest gaming experiences. It's hard but fair and it's addictive to the point where you'll start walking in the shadows at night. The story is great but the game-play is where it really shines. Stop reading, buy it and be prepared to sink in it 200 hours or more.

7th Legion

We're gonna War!

The game is one of my favorite RTS I ever played in the late 90's and loved it enough to finish it with both factions. This game is a challenge that cannot be properly described in a few words but I'll do my best. The pros are: (I like) the graphics and animation, the soundtrack will get you pumped up for a gym workout, resource management is performance-based, orders include stance (agg, def, etc) and the card system is a neat random element that spices up the whole experience. The story is forgettable but has a nice futuristic twist to it, which I enjoy. Sometimes your soldiers will decide to take a leisurely stroll, for no apparent reason. The cons are: the path-finding is requires constant micro-management, giving orders is a nightmare, the cut-scenes aged less gracefully than the animation and there's a bit of a steep learning curve involved, especially in missions with limited nos. of units. Do you consider yourself good at RTS? If yes, then this game is a challenge worth completing. I didn't regret it and remember the experience quite fondly. Strongly recommended especially for the sale price.

Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000

Are you an Alien or Predator fan?

If the answer is yes, then its a must buy! Back when it came out I had bought it and finished it with every race. Afterwards I started it all over again at a higher difficulty (Bonus missions if you finish a campaign on Director's Cut difficulty). Ever wanted to feel like Hicks or Vasquez? This game gives you all the fun of wielding a smart-gun with minimal requirements. The Predator is overpowered, just as it should be! Finally the xenomorphs posses blinding speed that can't be matched. On the downside, it's a bit old but to me it's more like vintage. If you're not into the movies then this might just get you started. 5/5
