The controls and UI are initially baffling but once you get the hang of it and you've followed enough of the missions along you slowly eek your way out of survival mode to being able to explore. I have travelled to 4 systems now, all much the same, sort of blobby non-descript places with various hazards requiring you to top up basic materials contstantly. There is a story ish and once you unlock the public starbase (anomoly) you can visit other worlds/builds from real players. As a multiplayer experience it was tough to set up, tough to get off the ground and progress and you can't share missions so we were essentially playing a single player game in the same room as each other.
