[Disclaimer:I do not have the GOG version, due to me buying it used for my potato console via a friend who sucks at any moderately difficult game} Any RPG lover, historical game enthusiast, Deep Silver fanboy, or just anyone who loves games with a deep progression system in an engrossing and beautiful game world complete with a tale of intrigue and tragedy, then this is the game for you. The opening act starts slow, but it really is useful to the newfa-ermm....new players, unfamiliar to combat system in the same vein as Deep Silver's Gothic or Risen, a fairly complex martial system but a very rewarding one that requires timing and forethought instead of button mashing will tanking any damage coming your way. This type of play will get you killed and frustrate you immensely; so take your time and dance around your foe, feint attacks and probe for his weakness, and if hes a powerhouse or you need a mace instead of a sword to damage his plate armor, don't be afraid to disengage and rethink your attack strategy. This game contains one of the most engrossing and detailed worlds ever put forth to screen, and the fact that they accomplished this using real historical events as a settings makes the feat even more impressive, especially for such a small(but extremely talented) group of game developers. The only problem I and some others are having is the bugs. This is somewhat expected from a small dev team who pushed the game out to meet deadlines when it was obvious to everyone that it needed another month in the oven. But that being said, the patch they already put out fixed alot of my problems i was having, and like New Vegas I feel like once a few more patches come through, this will be the gold standard for RPGS in the years to come. God Be with You Brothers, Hail Victory!
The scope of the world, combined with the life and depth of said world and its characters, makes this game a masterpiece of western RPG's if not one of the best games ever made. Although it had a rocky launch, riddled with bugs, this could be attributed more to the engine the game was built upon. At this point with the game running great and all the bugs patched out, that old con shouldn't be applied. It runs good even on my weakest machine, and that is only referring to the visual fidelity. The story, the world, the factions, the characters, and your decisions with how to deal with each is what makes this game stand out, and that's not even going into the DLC(which has some of the best add-on's of the decade). If you enjoyed the world of Fallout 3 but found the story and characters to be lacking, then look no further than New Vegas. It is a MUST PLAY for RPG fans, Fallout fans, post-apocalyptic genre freaks, or just any gamer that enjoys a fun game with an amazing story and a compelling world. I would have gladly paid full price for this DRM free version. If you haven't tried it yet, DO SO! You will not regret it.

NOTE:I do not own the GOG.com version, so if extra content is available in this version I couldn't tell you. If I could do 3 1/2 stars i would probably give it another half star for at least not falling into the worst tropes of the sub-genre. If you don't like the use of the term "walking simulator", I'm sorry but it is applicable here. A decently compelling story helps it stick out above some of the worse examples cough-gone home-cough, and enough interactivity to justify its existence as a video game instead of a visual novel, but it still didn't peek my interest like TSP did with its witty sense of humor and subversion of tropes, and didn't strike me visually like Journey. It's just an okay walking simulator, if you like the sub-genre then check it out on sale. If you don't like these types of games normally, I don't think the story or characters are interesting enough to warrant putting up with a style of play you don't care for.
