I've played tons of the original, and this is a renewed version. For the most part it's as good or better than the original. However a few details were made worse. I can't specify more since I made a few months break and can't remember my original issues just that I had them. Except for Seth no longer destroying invaders so you always HAVE to have a military, which is something that makes some missions unreasonably dificult because they were designed to be done through religion and economics and not military. Other the downsides are very much not a big deal since I forgot them all. Whoever liked the original Pharaoh will love this one too.
But not bad. Just not worth it. It's a wonderful idea, and the content is pretty cool, but there isn't enough of the good things, or they are just not relevant (e.g. Card minigame, invetnory...) and some of the not so good things last too long, compared to the good ones at least. All in all, if someone already bought it, play their copy, or get it on discount. As it is it's not worth the money imo.
If you don't mind permadeath, you should most deffinitely try this one.
