I have loved games for their ability to make you forget life, forget hardships. I have loved Final Fantasy Games, like Final Fantasy 6 a true RPG masterpiece also enjoyed 7,8,9,10 which are amazing artistic games, I have love Mass Effect, I considered Mass Effect 2 untill recently my favorite game and is my favorite Sci Fi media franchise even above star trek or Star Wars. And I also ocationally fall for amazing games like dishonored ( dishonored 2 just recently becoming one of my favorite games every ) and Bioshok with it's atmosphere, great story telling and pacing and Naughty dog games, Last of US is a unique ride and uncharted are fun and jaw dropping. But nothing comes close to Witcher 3, absolutely nothing. Mass Effect 2 may come closer than most to me, Maybe Andromeda will make me change my mind but it is a steep mountain to climb Witcher 3 is a slice of gaming perfection. The story is multi layered, as good or better than anything you will see in a movie like LOTR or a show like Game of thrones ( and I absolutely love GOTG ) The secondary characters are complex, have their own personal motivations and will do good and bad depending on the situation ( Keira Mentz for example can be a great aid or can be a pest depending on what you decide ). The relationships are complex, you have two women who you enjoy as friends and lovers who enjoy you also but you can't have both, and there is the love of your daughter one that at times feels like the real love story in this game is about Geralt's love for his daughter and her admiration and love for her adopted father. ( I literally shed tears just writting about it that's how deep this game has moved me). Even the comedy releif characters have complex and evolving storylines with Dandelion's tragedy sidequest ( spoiler less ) shows that despite his womanizing he can mature and really does care about people. The ending is full, complex and desitions matter. Witcher 3 is to video games what Breaking bad is to TV.
