I hate to say it, but it's unplayable for me. It crashes at the exact same point every time in each tutorial. I've tried adjusting settings, even setting everything as low as possible, and there's no effect. Until it's patched and can be played, I can only give it one star. I despirately hope there's a fix, and we see it soon.
Really wish there was a refund period on GOG. This game is obtuse, over complicated, and just generally annoying. I've been playing Civ-style games since the original Civ, and I've never had as poor of an experience as I had here. The worst part of the experience is the lack of available data. The game does a strikingly poor job explaining what various techs in the trees do, and gives me little reason to focus on anything, and there's no cue, so every couple turns, you're dragged back to click on another branch of the trees, (there's 2) with no real reason to not just take them in order. Choices just don't feel like they matter, and all the tech development could have just be put on a single progress bar with a less annoying effect. I'm not saying that would be better, but the illusion of choice is more annoying. And dealing with other nations is similarly hampered by too little info. There's no easy way to gauge an opponent's military strength, size, or anything else, which I'm sure some would argue as a strength, but I have no doubt the AI has all that info on me. From several barely explained currencies, to poor UI, and troop selection during combat, to an interface that seems to hamper more than help, the whole game is just taxing and frustrating to play due to it's opaqueness and unwillingness and over complexity. It just left me feeling like I had wasted my money and time when it could have been far better spent. Completely not worth it.
