A lot of reviews here indicate that this game does not run or work on Windows 10. This is false, the game does, but there is something you have to do manually and there are several caveats. Regarding the issues with serial number: You do not need to actually supply said serial number, instead you need to run a script in the Settlers 3 installation folder as an administrator, which is indicated in the FAQ section for this game. Go to your Settlers 3 installation folder (likely "C:\GOG Games\Settlers 3 Ultimate" or something similar), locate the script named "regs.cmd" and right-click, then run as administrator. You will no longer need the serial number and everything should just play. The multiplayer problem is legitimate, as the license keys are exhausted. That said, local multiplayer still works, so you can work around this problem by using a VPN to connect with who you want to play with, then treat them like they're on your local subnet. This is kind of a lot, and not really worth it for many people, so if you are looking forward to more than local network multiplayer, I recommend not buying this. If you can work with that limitation, the game does run. I have only played this on Windows 10, I do not know how it will work on Windows 11. The screen resolution is fixed and extremely bad at 800x600. If your monitor doesn't support this resolution, you likely will see nothing at all and need to reboot or force close the application or something. A good workaround is to use DxWnd to render the screen, so you can play on a window rather than fullscreen. If you can deal with the above, Settlers 3 is still here and it is still very fun to play. I found myself caught in it again while testing.
