To begin with, A hat in time is genuinely the most fun I've ever had with any platformer on PC. The controls are so smooth I swear this game is trying to have sex with me. The levels, characters, music and everything else I don't need to mention is very well done and gives a smile to even the most cynical of gamers. That being said, this DLC is hot garbage. The first aspect of this content is the new 'Arctic Cruise' Chapter. When the game doesn't bug out thinking you don't have the DLC, you can play all three levels of this new chapter plus some time rifts. Hat kid still feels good to control and ovarall atmosphere fits the game really well, however level design is meh to bad. The last of the three levels is just plain horrible and is easily the worst in the game sofar. I feel like the potential of this chapter was ruined when their one game mechanic fails and the cruise ship layout was just confusing, combining too make the fetch quests so damn bad. I would be lying if I told you that the arrow directing you around only worked about 100% of the time. Again the look, the feel of the world and the characters are still there, but unfortunately the length and level design is so lacking in that same department. The last part is seal the deal which I consider the better of the two. The basic idea is you complete contracts for Snatcher which are just harder versions of the pre-existing levels in the base game. A novel idea and really hits you hard from the beginning and gets worse. I do like me some challenge but holy mother of hat kid, some of this stuff just stop being fun after some much frustrating restarts. Where the controls are designed to be lenient, this challenge is more frustrating than rewarding. Even with the promise of more hats, it feels so damn hollow to win. Granted it is quite cheap, even free if you got it on the first day. However the final product feels tacked on, something more that I would expect from a free update than a separate piece.
