Hollow Knight: Silksong

Great game, but not a good Hollow Knight

Great game. It fixes Hollow Knight’s flaws. It increases mobility and speeds up the progression of that mobility, which allows for more interesting challenges in terms of bosses and platforming obstacles. Unfortunately, the difficulty level is far beyond what Hollow Knight fans might expect. It’s downright brutal. For most of the game, you’ll be wondering if you missed some upgrade. The answer is usually “no.” The charm system has been scrapped. Now there are fewer of them, and they barely affect your combat abilities. Instead, you get tools, which are consumable and can be replenished with a new currency. It’s a great addition, though most players won’t appreciate it because it’s bound to an awkward button combination on the controller. But it’s worth using—they really let you deal a ton of damage. The map is absolutely massive. You can finish the main story in about 15 hours, but I’m already 30 hours in and still haven’t reached the next area, and the world just keeps expanding. This game is truly gigantic - beyond reason. I had a fantastic time with it, but I don’t recommend it to the average player. To everyone who bought it - good luck.
