No really, I don't know what to say. Is the game bad? No, it's not. It's just so freaking slow.... I mean it - One hour of playing the first mission in the campaign, and I am bored to death. And trust me, I played a lot of City Sims. The option to speed this up would be nice. Without one, the slow pace kills any enjoyment from playing this game.
It has been some time since I played that game, but I remember how hyped I was to give it a try. It was a disappointment, unfortunately. This is one of these games that had great potential, but just didn't have everything done right. But there was one thing that ruined it forever for me - The Controls. These bloody controls. Quoting the AVGN 'The controls are like something You do for a cheat code, not a basic move that You have to do, in order to play the game.' And this is of cource the hardest thing to explain, because unless You have played the game, You will not understand. But play 'Sea Dogs' for a while, then turn on 'Sid Meier's Pirates!' from 2004, and You will get a picture.
This was the first serious shooter of my childhood. And I do have to admit, it didn't age that much - weapons sounds way better than in modern games, and the music is ear worms everywhere. Though I would not call it the best MoH of all time, because it still has a million things that would never be given a free pass nowadays - like no precision aiming (which already was available at the time), or... ESPECIALLY... Enemies that don't die after getting hit 20 times in the chests. This gets especially infuriating in Breakthrought. Literally a thousand enemies to kill, lack of ammonition and Computer being a cheating bastard every five seconds. Great Fun, isn't it? But I have to admit, what makes it so unique is that even on mission that are a memory test, the game still forces you to go slowly and gives you those rare moments to take a break. I miss these in modern games so much.
