Fun but confusing

I remember playing this game in the 90s. It's definitely fun, but the game isn't very intuitive. It would be nice to automate purchases of food and drinks when stock gets low. Having to micromanage stuff like that takes away from the fun of the game. Also, the puking is way overdone. I'm unsure who thought it would be a great idea to manage staffers who need to chase puking kids back and forth.

Plan on Editing Your Registry

HOMM3 remains my favorite of the series. It strikes a great balance between strategy and fun play, not making you overthink every move or get too formulaic as in CIV. It should be rated 5 stars. The GOG version of HOMM3 played great until last year. Then an annoying issue arose. The game began forcing me into viewing the intro (which is ridiculously long), which is only supposed to happen the first time you play the game. This might seem like a minor issue. It's not. Imagine sitting around for 3 to 5 minutes, watching the same tired intro every time you boot the game. After a little searching, I discovered many users were griping about this problem It's easily fixable if you're comfortable editing your registry, which not everyone is. But even if you are comfortable fixing the intro problem, you'll need to keep editing your registry, because the values reset constantly, forcing me to watch the freaking intro again and again. Most of the time, when I'm craving a little HOMM3, I end up not playing because I don't want to look up the values that need changing and re-edit the registry. Or I start the game and find something better to do for five minutes, which is probably the best option. I wish someone would create a permanent fix.
