I was disappointed that this game doesn't have the same music or screen display that the SEGA Genesis version did. The 1/8th of the monitor at the top is covered up by pretty useless information / icons. The game is playable but just barely. Things you should be able to see that are a part of the original gameplay like people throwing pots out of the windows to try and hit Aladdin aren't completely shown. You can only see pots falling in some areas. The price is outragous for the experience. If Aladdin were 1/4 of the price it currently is then that would be more acceptable. I decided to give it 2 stars because it does bring back some of the nostalgia but the screen and price really bring the rating down.
I read a lot of good reviews and a few bad ones on GOG. I played an online demo for a few minutes and it seemed interesting but because of how bad some reviews were, I decided to wait untill it went on sale before I bought it. When I bought the game, it went on sale for a little under $4. I should have waited untill it went on sale for under $2. This game has been compared to Silent Hill 2 and 3 multiple times. It's one of the reasons I wanted it. From what I can tell, it's because the sounds, map design, level design, and some items in the game are taken directly from the Silent HIll series. The game (to me) simply lacks a story that can get me interested. From what I can tell, I haven't gotten far into the game. I'm still in the Appartments, it's the starting point after the tutorial. I've made my way around the area but keep getting killed in certain parts. When I get killed, I'm not frustrated or irritated, I'm bored. A game is supposed to be challanging but it should be good enough to motivate me so I will want to find ways around or through the annoying (not scary) monsters. I should want to make it further to learn more of the story, but I just don't. The controls take a bit of getting used to but they're not terrible. It was a cool idea that I wanted to be fun but for me it isn't. If you are looking for a Silent Hill game to play, replay the first few. That's the only way to get what you really want. I gave this game 2 stars because I couldn't give it 1 1/2.
