Bought this game back in the very early 90s on floppy, thought it was amazing to have "RealSound" voices, although they only came throught the PC speaker on the motherboard. Crazy times. A soild adventure, just make sure you have a notepad and a pencil. This game doesn't hold your hand at all.
It did and does still have it's little quirks but PQ4 still holds a special place for me as a great adventure point and click! I remember renting the cd rom from Blockbuster weekend after weekend, until I finally bought it! Great game and one of the last of it's kind during the Sierra-era!
Played the original back in the day on my old laptop, then bought the Cleopatra expansion and still play both to this day! That was, however, until New Era came out. Sure it had a rough start, but the devs have poured a lot of hard work into this game and it's now my go-to when I need my Pharoah fix! Sure, it's different in ways, but that's ok. Enjoy it for what it is, plus it looks glorious on my ultra widescreen at 120 fps.
I remember getting up early before school to play AiTD on my old AST Advantage pc, with it's 33mhz processor, 4 megs of RAM, and Windows 3.1 I used to read the books in game looking for clues, trying to read between the lines, when it turned out most puzzles were rather elementary, lol. Even still, this game goes down as one of my first PC games and probably what hooked me on games for life! Thanks GOG for making it painless to run the program as well. Cheers
