The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

Masterpiece

A really fantastic game full of interesting quests and great visuals. The immersion in this game is great, I took a lot of time out of the main quest to just complete my Witcher contracts and earn a living/upgrade my gear. It does have the classic Ubisoft style icons all over the map which hasn't aged well in my opinion. However it's a 5 year old game so I wouldn't really count that as a negative against my rating. I think the best way to play this game is to just immerse yourself and do what you want to do rather than chasing map markers. A must play for any gamer.

Cyberpunk 2077

Good but disappointing

As a big fan of The Witcher 3 I went into this game with high expectations, on top of the fact that CDPR has been calling this game 'the future of open world games'. For the most part the game has not met my expectations and the numerous bugs do not help matters. The open world is in no way bigger or better than most open world games, it looks great and the cyberpunk setting makes it a really cool city to be in. But in my opinion it's not a world you can live in due to the lack of immersion. Some examples include; the AI and especially the driving AI is quite poor, lack of animations even for eating, barely any useful shops and no reason to seek out food shops, no customisable vehicles, can't customise the main character after initial creation. On top of this there seem to be a lot of missing features that were shown or implied from the gameplay prior to release, for example i'm fairly sure the monowire is just a melee weapon in the game whereas it was supposed to double up as a netrunner hacking tool (I haven't personally tested this however). Lastly a majority of side activities or 'open world' activities just involve shooting a couple of gang members or a cyberpsycho then moving on which gets old quickly. I've played around 24 hours and completed the main story which i enjoyed. The first person view and the character models/animations during dialogue is great. I'm sure there are many more great side quests that I could find, but I simply do not find the world immersive enough to carry on. I plan to revisit the game next year after CDPR have hopefully patched out a lot of the bugs that plague this game.

METAL GEAR SOLID

Nostalgia and good fun

I really enjoyed replaying this game and i started again as soon as i finished it. I just completed it twice and i might go back for a 3rd at some stage to experience a few secret unlocks in the 3rd playthrough. I had a bit of trouble at first with assigning new controls on keyboard but got it all working well in 20 or so minutes of testing. In the end I had movement on NUM 4568 which was strange but better than the original 4268... It takes a while to get used to controls like these on keyboard but I managed to play the game just fine. Decent price for an old game like this too since the content is obviously limited and lacking compared to today's standards. Still a great stealth/action game and good for anyone looking to replay this classic. If you've never played it before then i'm not sure how this would hold up without any nostalgia...
