Heroes of Might and Magic® 3: Complete

Still one of the best games of its kind

Magical, whimsical, beautiful art style, unobtrusive interface... Love this game

Project Warlock

Excellent old school vibe

I have little over three hours of playtime and have enjoyed the game immensely so far. It nails the old school vibe right from the beginning which, for all intents and purposes, should be praised since that is clearly what the developers were going for and what this game is all about: a throwback to run-and-gun first-person shooters from the early 90's. The gunplay, weapon and enemy variety and character development are by far my favorite aspects of this game. The weapon mechanics and movement are very reminiscent of Doom-like shooters, although you can aim up and down (which is necessary to kill some smaller enemies). Weapon variety, although nothing really groundbreaking, is still interesting since you get to use all the classic guns from those games, and the best part is that every weapon, from the initial pistol, feels very powerful and satisfying to use (though melee weapons seem a bit clunky in my opinion). Having completed the first two episodes I reiterate that I have enjoyed my time immensely so far. Nothing is perfect, however, and level design does seem a bit bland and simplistic so far, though their more straightforward nature lands to a more quick and relaxed play style, ditching the need to save throughout the levels since you will find yourself going back to your Workshop in between levels, where the game auto saves. Also the fact that the game lacks 1440p resolution is quite off-putting, but since the game just released I am giving the developers some leeway before docking a star. All in all, I have enjoyed the game much more than most of these reviews led me to believe and, for the price, could not recommend it enough.
