Part one is a revolutionary space battle with over ten completely different alien ships, each with it's own set of abilities. It also included a strategy game to complement the space battles. Part two is a full scale adventure/strategy with about 20 different races and a huge upgradeable carrier traveling through vast space and rescuing the universe by resource management, trading, diplomacy and aggression. This game has a simple, but comfortable, almost console-like interface with enough dialogs, strategic options and easter eggs to guarantee replayability even in today's age. Knowing gog.com, the package probably comes with enough maps and guides to satisfy any collector. But if that's not enough, the internet is full of fan content due to Star Control's mind-influencing ability to spread obsessive fandom like a space plague I could go on for hours, but for $6, you can just play it through a few times and then do it instead of me
