Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

A delightful card RPG

I was looking for a good card RPG for a long time. With a story and RPG elements, like Ehertlords 2 or old MTG. And now I found it. Visual presentation is great. Music and voice acting is on the same level as in Witcher games. The main story is pretty good, even though it felt like the dev's main focus were side stories. Which are really great and shows the believable world with believable people and situation. If you played Witcher game series or read the books you will be happy. The game is huge. I've spent almost 70 hours on it. There's a ton of quests, choices, puzzles and such. Still there are two downsides. First one is that there not enough, well Gwent itself. Most of the battles are shortened to one round and sometimes you may finish two puzzles, read a ton of story, travel a lot and understand it's been awhile since you had a decent normal battle with your deck. Even worse, the game understands that and doesn't give you too many card options. You may play few hours without getting new cards at all. Second issue is the difficulty. On release game was frustratingly easy even on Very Hard difficulty. First patch made situation better a bit, but still its easy most of the time. A lot of cards and strategies are so OP, you might finish the battle with empty enemy field. But then you encounter puzzles, which are difficult most of the time, and few random battles have has a sudden difficulty spikes, which you totally unexpected. And then easy battles again. This confuses a lot. However the last boss fight is really difficult and counters most OP tactics I have invented throughout the game. My respect, that was cool. Overall, if you looking for a new adventure in Witcher world, want to read a great interactive book in dark fantasy setting, or just looking for really good story card game, this is it. Try it. Btw, don't know why, but most of this game's negative reviews are actually addressed for Gwent multiplayer.
