Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition

fallout 3

I like it a lot so far. At this point, I'm still in the middle of the game for the first time. Probably got another 15 or 20 hours left till I finish the main quests. I love exploring and shooting in this game. It's been fun doing some of the quests. I will say though there are a few things that are slightly irritating me. A couple of the quests so far have taken forever to accomplish. Just exploring anywhere feels like there is an hourglass placed on me as I have found that I'm constantly low on ammo and health resources. The best way I've found to keep stocked up on these things is to pursue main quests rather than just explore random places. That sucks to me, but otherwise, this has been a pretty solid game so far.

Complete Trash

The only good thing (and it is huge) is that this helped spawn the beginning of the RTS genre. But good god did this game not age well. Even with the lack luster remaster, the controls are still painful to wrestle with. Workers will stop if there is even a whiff of an enemy's fragrance. Most units are downright unusable. This was a good game in 1994. But after Warcraft 2 and 3, and Starcraft Brood war, this one definitely only belongs in a museum.

Heck yeah

Just now played System Shock 2 swearing I'd only play for about 15 minutes. And then of course an hour and a half just flies by.

Nox™

The Mother of All Games

This is one of my favorite games of all time. Somehow, I like it even more than Diablo 2. That is pretty strange since Diablo 2 is randomly generated, but that speaks to how much Nox speaks to me. Don't get me wrong, I love Diablo 2, but somehow I have probably played through Nox hundreds of times compared to maybe under 100 of Diablo. It's kind of a puzzle to me why I actually like Nox that much. But everything from the enemies, the way you control your characters, the fireballs, and electric bolts, are all so god-damn crisp and clean. You can probably eat off your moniter after a p*** session, it's that clean. If I were to ever do a speedrun of a game, this would be it.

Ocean's Heart

Fun Game

There's a lot to like about this game. Personally, I got stuck in a puzzle and mistakenly thought that I had to come back to it at a later time. So I ended up exploring probably around 80% of the map before I actually focused on beating the main quest. That could be why when I first started, I was startled by how difficult it could sometimes be. But fortunately: 1, the enemies don't really get too much tougher (though I wish they would've). 2, I probably got more used to the controls as I went along (I think this was my first zelda-like-ish game). and 3, you get a ton of upgrades to your weapons and armor. The positives: Really cute art style A down-to-earth story of a daughter rescuing her dad and sister Pretty intuitive controls once I got them down A lot of fun to be had killing monsters and exploring ruins The negatives: Not a fan of the music. A couple of areas were grating to me. Other than that though, it was pretty relaxing, which wasn't quite what I was hoping for. I do wish it got a lot harder near the end. Overall, I'm glad I played this game.

Orwell's Animal Farm

It's Fine

I really wish this I was interested enough to explore all the options this game has to offer. I love the book Animal Farm and I think this game was certainly a great idea. My main problem though is that the options you're given repeat over and over. Unfortunately, I started to get pretty bored about two thirds of my first playthrough. This really was a great idea for a game. I wish it was more fleshed out though. If you really want to buy this game, my recommendation is to wait until this comes on sale. For $9.99, it's a little more expensive then I would have liked it to be.
