Let's face it, there are much more advance and fulfilling space sim shooters. There are even older ones. But it really all began here and for good reason, even though it is old it is still fun. Just complicated enough to help you believe you are actually in the cockpit but not to the point of frustration. Be aware that the GOG version doesn't have the best sound by default, if you want better music and sound effects set up a Roland MT-32 emulator. Worth every penny.
An innovative call back to old goldbox era CRPGs. In my experience, the game is stable and relatively glitch free. Not the longest rpg there is but then again, not all of us has that much free time to burn. If you like old school style CRPGs then this is certainly for you.
It's just how you remember it IF you remember it. It's a fun blend of FPS and Real Time Strategy. It controls great, the updated models for the tanks and buildings stay true to the original design. Everything is here, in high resolution and easily playable. Give it a try.
Wing Commander Privateer is an early but FUN open world sandbox. Be a smuggler, a pirate, a mercenary, a merchant as you traverse the stars in search of profit. The controls can be a tad finnicky, but once you wrap your head around them they are fairly intuitive. The game is just sim enough to make it complex but not over your head need to learn 42 hot keys complex. If you are looking for a fun retro scifi game with an open world, look no further.
