Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Digital Classic Edition

It's No Fallout

Having been a fan of Fallout 1 & 2 I was hoping for a modernized version of that genre with more features. What I got was a whole lot less. Wasteland 2 was a huge letdown as I've come to expect from new adaptations on this genre. The combat is boring and leaves little room for strategy. The voice acting is corny and the dialogue is not interesting at all. The writing is filled with cliche. I actually prefer Fallout's 1990's graphics to Wasteland 2's. WL's visuals just look so fake and the way it displays your movement range really kills the immersion. Someone needs to just make a new Fallout style game with mostly 2D backgrounds. They were so much more beautiful and interesting than the cookie cutter looking worlds you get from 3D. Who cares about moving the camera angle around if the background is too ugly and repetitive to take your interest? Also, this game feels way too on rails for an open world RPG.

Good quality for an indie game

This was a pretty good game. I played the demo and am a fan of cyber punk genres which is what I thought this would be. I was thinking Cowboy Bebop-ish. Kind of anime meets film noir. And that's pretty much what I got. Pros: Very nice sound effects and well done voice overs. Beautiful world. The world is gritty and immersive. One of the better indie games I've played. Cons: The world is rather small and you spend a lot of time in the same areas instead of exploring new settings. Very unresponsive controls for the shooting sequences. Very short game.
