This is one very very VERY good game. Futuristic, unique as concept and execution. Very nice orchestral soundtrack, very atmospheric and the graphics are cool too. Most of all - the powers the main hero has are fantastic (in literal and figurative speech). It is very destructive even without the weapons. Speaking of weapons - they are cool and very well crafted too, the alien weapons are cool, the ships and aliens are unique and everything is real piece of art. The story also is fantastic and unique - it acts as a movie to some degree with a lot of cool cinematic that are pretty good and long without the boring "cinematic experience". Everything you use constantly as equipment and powers levels up - and you unlock even new powers and alternative modes to powers and weapons - you really become force to be reckoned with, and yet you are not indestructible - you have to be very careful and never underestimate the opponent.
The game is awesome, it is complicated and well crafted with a lot of details in it and details about the details when you think of this and that and how to upgrade what is important etc... you actually have to make planning all the time, to see and predict the future so to say, to think one step ahead how to deal with eventual problems and get back on the track and i find that very good, inspiring and challenging, Also have implemented so to say strategic level which is also important and well developed and you have to make planning there too - where when and how to go and you have global bonuses in way of chests that you receive for survival time for example. From the first step you make, you have always to think what you do and where will you do it - even where you begin is strategically and tactically important. Graphics are very nice - mixing the pixel art with some new stuff that are now possible. The music is very good and is one of those soundtracks I am never tired or bored off, and never tried to mute it. The native sounds are cool and give you idea what is going down there and give you the feeling for the world you are in making it quite alive - for example how when you go over corrupt territory you can no longer hear the music but only the spooky sounds in the mist and darkness, etc. NO any nasty stupid loot-boxes and micro-transactions, neither nasty DLC-s which mean that this game is NOT broken to pieces to be sold piece by piece to you and be able to extort as much money as possible which in my case would have been just no-deal. The only DLC (and I bought it actually) is the soundtrack that is offered to you as separate music, so you get something real. I actually cannot think of anything negative to say abut this game. It is complicated, - you have to discover your way to stay in balance and face the future and problems without getting out of it and this is key for survival and not going down to the steep slope of demise.
Period. From top to toe - this game is fantastic, it can be as complicated as I never saw in another game and simple as you make it - I love the graphics, the sound, the mechanics... My engineer guy always have to learn something new. Just waiting for the expansion now. I hope they release it here too - fingers crossed... The game is so beautiful and honestly I do not even know how much hours I have sunk in it and I still have to learn... Here you create an entire factory just to expand it and create new technologies and machinery. It expands and expands and from small furnace and a pickaxe, you get a rocket and get in space. From coal to Nuclear reactors. The entire industrial history recreated by you. Cannot wait to go to new planets now... The soundtrack is cool too. And trains! And signals! And automation! And logic! I still cannot get all of it... so much depth to it! Every project I start very soon outgrows itself and becomes hungry hydra - you have to learn automating things otherwise you will run a lot (like me), and the projects are going to go slow. Do NOT stay on the rails, it is bad habit... :D Now for the last word - honestly this game is one of the very few that did not gave me the "buyers remorse". This is creation of art (seriously) and I love every bit of it. It deserves every dollar of the price.
The game is cool, the heroes are well made, the story is good. You have combat system with combos and different strikes, different outfits and weapons, different heroes have their own abilities and skills, you have puzzles, exploring is rewarded, you have noble knights, stealth, combat, beautiful noble lady which is very good with daggers and Templars! I like the sound and graphics. And the lady, and the Templars!
Yes the game is fantastic and very atmospheric - with good graphics for the fans of good looks, VERY good audio - I love all the sounds, atmospheric and very powerful weapon shooting and walking around in the bulky power armor. Good Soundtrack - not interrupting, not warning you and not annoying. Music, sound, story and the graphics style really immerse you in the Warhammer 40 000 universe with all it's details like goriness, hopelessness and gothic feeling. You really feel like you are in Warhammer 40k and you are part of the Imperium of man on a mission like it should be. Missions are good, the story is good and makes sense. There is no "modern day" nonsense. Only Warhammer things for Warhammer fans in Warhammer universe. You are a brother in the squad and you are there to do job with the other brothers from the chapter. Definitively deserves the money. Nothing brakes the immersion. Cooperative play in multiplayer is really good indeed and adds to the feelings. No loot-boxes and no micro-transactions - which is also another fantastic thing - you unlock and get perks skins and all else through hard work. No "money please". Replay-ability also is good - with the new perks and skins we get new combinations and little good things that allow us to play again with some different skills and perks. The only not so much perfect thing I can say is that the multiplayer is not really adjustable - there is no local server LAN mode, and if you are far from others - you have lag (this can arguably be from me and to be my problem). Also it is not possible to see who is in the game you want to join until you do it and I was not able to see for example reserved slots or ban function in lobby. So basically I do not agree with any critics opinion regardless be they top open or what not. Seems the other reviews support this notion too, but that is not for the first time as we all know and will not be the last for sure. Good work Games Workshop!
Good, detailed drawn, with light and fields of view, good soundtrack - atmospheric music that really helps the immersion, good sounds from the different things you do and weapons you use, the zombies you butcher, claustrophobic environments, time pressure of the infection and the dying colony, energy management, inventions and upgrades, need to eat, sleep, go to the WC and drink to go, need to repair equipment, labyrinthine levels, mutant attacks, need of medicine, med-packs, antibiotics and fixtures for broken bones - to heal different injury done to you... It have it all, you have no safe spaces. You go out you are on your own, you stay in - you surely die. This game really have what this genre should have and is done in the right way. It also have more science-fiction than just fictional way - The way the things are done is believable not like many modern and old games - no phone things hold in hand and you are ready to go and solve whatever problems... You need food, water, proper temperature and oxygen or you will not survive. Every level have it's "heart" where you must install filters and heaters to make the zone operational and be able to thread even bit safer there (and to reduce the spread size of the plague), sometimes you go in a level 2-3 times before you can get to the heart and find everything there is to find - you have to get with you food, med-packs, stimulants, spare oxygen and thermal canisters, water etc... You gather things and scavenge everything you can - so you can turn things into materials then into useful things, in this moment you feel how irrelevant become everyday valuables in such situation.... Place beacons so you do not get lost or forget where were those supplies you left behind because of full backpack... And yes - you have back pack so no hoarding all and must manage what you carry on mission. Defend and maintain the generator. No one is holding your hand all the time - think, plan, when out - maneuver.
Best and in my opinion only really good game in series made ever - all is so immersive, the soundtrack is gorgeous, the atmosphere in this game gave me countless hunting hours. And countless sweat hard hours with the marine. When you star hearing the creepy bleeping all over the place - believe me that gun always looks not big enough. This is one of the few games in this genre that really have appeal to me. It is... just GOOD! I am so happy that this game came here to GOG. Thank you GOG! Also I should mention something that in my opinion is misunderstanding - the old servers are gone (gamespy?) and for this reason the only way to play online is with GOG GALAXY which is mentioned just below the system requirements. Also as far as I understood - the Classic 2000 that is used as base for this distribution (the last version ever came out of the game), does not have LAN implemented by the developers in the beginning. It is just the last version of the game that made it out. I guess if you use older version, you will have much more and different things to optimize and much older game to adapt to nowadays hardware. So it uses only GOG's api to connect and that mean Galaxy. Which is perfectly fine in my opinion. This is NOT DRM as many people think and is miracle that we have multiplayer at all. The game is very well adapted and optimized and works fine for me at least.
The graphics are art. Incredibly well crafted. It does not leave unfilled ugly gaps or suffering of repetitive empty areas. Very detailed and beautiful with those little dust on lights, vast deserts and gardens and those wonderful tech areas and catacombs. Everything echoes and amplifies the feelings, that you could have if you are in such places - long forgotten, abandoned from eons, lying there for eternity, filled only with their ghosts and memories... Old catacombs, machinery of unknown origins that are still functioning, hidden incredible cities "under your very nose", jungles with incredible creatures, somehow not just extras - they fit perfectly and are part of the world in way that I can actually from time to tam ask myself "I wonder what are they doing now"... The accompanying friend is unique also and so well crafted, that he alone have sort of story told for the way he joins you - and that story have it's own morals and questions. And it is so well told in the course of the game that you do not even think of it as a story - he is just another part of the world, so important in the very way he comes to you, that this alone with it's morals is part of you yourself and his story is not separate but part of yours. Somehow poetic review but I cannot write anything else because of the feelings this game inspired in me. Very hard but rewarding game (for me at least). It feels like the endless struggle is somehow part of the plot. The sounds and soundtrack are perfectly resonating in you, the lonely nostalgic, sad feeling shining with revelations giving you hope... This is one of the very few games I can think of, that having so deep meaning in the story and conveyed Properly, make you think deeply in the bitter end. For a man with his woes, alone, against a world and universe and fate... In struggle futile as fight against the universe's laws... Puzzles require (and in my case develop) mind flexibility - sometimes you just think the wrong, the ordinary way.
