Orwell

Intriguing and thought-provoking

I found this game to be a lot of fun and thought-provoking. It had me thinking between sessions about the conspiracies involved and who was guilty. It's a short game, and the only interaction that you have is uploading data to the government computer, so it comes across as more of an interactive story than a full-out game. The premise that Orwell only has access to the data chunks that you upload takes some getting used to, and they are very literal in their interpretation. Now I'm pestering my friend to try this game out so that I have someone to talk about the investigation with! If you're running it on Linux, it didn't work for me on Debian 8, but ran alright in a virtual machine with Ubuntu 16.04.

Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition

Tremendous fun!

This is a very slick game in the tradition of Baldur's Gate. I played through once quickly, then immediately made a new character to try some of the different conversation and quest options. Although it would be nice to have a few more selections of pre-made NPCs to adventure with, you can create your own party from scratch if desired so that you can try out all of the character classes. The world-building and dialogue is top-notch and I enjoyed the game a lot.
