Dungeon Rats

Simple Crawler to Tacticians Challenge

Definitely a dungeon crawler game. The story is straight forward, and short, great if you want to burn some time. And has a fair amount of replay-ability as do most RPGs of the like. Closest comparison I can think of is "insert typical RPG here," not to say it doesn't have its own qualities. It gives you the option to play solo or a group of characters, each with their own challenges and benefits. If you are a completionist, then you will get a couple of play throughs on this at least as some things can't be done by one character type. If you are wanting a strategical challenge then you'll want to play on harder difficulty, otherwise you may end up going through it mindlessly. On the easy I did most of the game with a basic warrior build and used very little items outside of my weapon. On the harder difficulties you will definitely be using all those extra goodies they give you and will still be wondering how you are going to get through this battle with what little you have. Its also not very kind to those who want to try different builds in one play through, a bit of a min max game, though done correctly you can viable have an archer trained in Alchemy and hand to hand combat, it just puts a strain on earlier gameplay. Its also a humorous game, most character interactions are limited as far as what you want to say, but I found the choices had a sense of humor to them, not ridiculous rolling on the floor humor but definitely chuckles throughout. All in all I feel the game was well worth the money spent, and I would in fact buy it at full price and not just on a sale.

Metro 2033 Redux

Short Game with a Good Story

I thought it was a pretty good game myself, played through it once, its a fairly short game, I'd say I finished it in roughly 8 hours or so, its great if you are looking for something to burn through over a couple of days. As far as the story line goes, I thought it was an intriguing one, with a couple of different endings, I only attained the default ending you get if you aren't trying to get the other. To attain the other ending you essentially make the game harder for yourself, knocking out enemies instead of killing them type stuff. A quick google search provides a better explanation, but that's essentially the difference. The Story itself is essentially you are living in a time period after war has destroyed the world in metro systems underneath the cities in Russia, and as result of this war you are fighting mutated monstrosities for survival in this new world. There are many points I'm leaving out because they will give too much of the story otherwise, and its too good to give it away without experiencing it for yourself. Game play itself is comparable to most FPS games, I myself don't play a lot of them though so don't quote me on that. I can say however that for the most part it is pretty intuitive and the controls are not overly complex. On the harder difficulties (which don't play those until you've played through a normal setting some first so you can learn the controls) it removes a lot of the HUD, which normally isn't a problem, and I actually found it makes the game more of a challenge in a good way, except for the fact that you will have no idea at all of how much ammo you have, not just what you have in the clip, but total amount as well. Which makes it much harder, especially when you have to choose between weapons and you are unsure as to how much ammo you have for either weapon. All in all its a good game, would I pay $20 dollars for it, probably not, but if you catch it on any sort of sale I would say its well worth the money spent.
