I had a good time with the game. I played it a few years ago and it was very nice. The story was interesting and the action-based combat enjoyable. Definitely a worthwhile choice for someone who likes this genre.
It just works. You aim, you shoot, you kill. I don't feel like there's much to write home about. Ain't much story, the mechanics are mostly basic, but there is some variety of weapons and spells. If you are into this kind of games then you'll have fun. One thing that I will mention is that I mostly had an easy time playing ("hardcore" difficulty I believe), the bosses took a bit more, but the last one feels like a huge jump in difficulty. I actually felt the need to look for some tips. All in all, if you enjoy a retro shooter then go ahead, maybe on a sale - I picked it up a few years ago for ~5$.
