IL-2 1946 is the final version dating back over 20 years now. It was first released back in 2001 under the name IL-2: Sturmovik with the final 1946 version comming in 2006. And it has aged well and with grace, as it is still THE best Second World War combat flight sim on the market. And it is still supported by the hard working Team Diadlos long after 1C moved on and abandoned it. Graphic wise there are far better looking combat flight sims out there, such as the 1C ancestors of IL-2 1946. However that's about the only thing these have to offer. A high price for a small handfull of flyable aircraft and limited content were you have to pay for additional high priced DLC:s to get a small number of new additions. In IL-2 1946 you get 300 flyable aircraft, from fighters and ground attack aircraft to light, medium and heavy bombers aswell as patrol and transport aircraft you get to fly right out of the box with the latest 4.15.1m update version. 300 aircraft representing almost every nations airforce thad fought in WWII. You get single missions, campaigns, a thriving online community and a Full Mission Builder were you can create your own missions or campaigns. IF that is not enough for you you still have a thriving modding community that will expand your game with additional skins, aircraft, maps, scenarios, campaigns or graphics of which most can be found over at the great Mission4Today forum. So if you wish to get a great WWII combat flight sim with countless possibilities and good flight models IL-2 1946 is the one to get!
