I've been listening to a lot of lovecraft novels lately. And I came across this game when I was looking for something new to play. The game plays great, though if you're looking for a storyline focused game this is not it. For what the game is, it's definitely a 5 stars in that particular regard. I would have liked if there was an attempt to tell a story alongside the gameplay itself. Definitely recommended.
I've always had an affinity for FPP games, and here's another one that I can't stop praising. The atmosphere in the game is great, with music that fits thematically to the world that the game is set in. The puzzles are great, and throughout the game you gain powers that allow you to interact with the world in a progressively more advanced way. The settings in the game allow for an unlocked framerate, FOV goes up to 120. Having these settings unlocked in a title like this is great, and adds a lot to the experience. To compare it to a very popular game, I would recommend this title if you liked the Portal series. When you get the 2nd power in the game, you will know what freedom feels like!
I'm in tears, for anyone thinking of getting the game I wholeheartedly recommend it. It is to be touched in these ways, to experience such intense emotion we live for. The game takes story telling to another level. Bringing together amazing characters, beautiful art and music that just absolutely pulls you into the story and makes you invested with everyone and everything that happens in the story as you progress. The game mechanics themselves are also top notch, though they are not the main focus of what makes this game the incredible experience that it is to play. Though if you have worries about the enjoyment of the gameplay itself, there is nothing to worry about in my opinion in that regard. The controls are intuitive, and from my own personal experience I throughly enjoyed this aspect of the game as well. It could honestly be a full fletched game of its own. There is some sense of repition in this game, which might stop you from completing it all in one sitting. But to me this does not take away any of the aspects about the story told, the game mechanics and the whole experience as a whole.
There's only a handful of games that I would qualify as beautiful, engaging, atmospheric, touching and philosophical. That's what this game gets right. With the focus on atmosphere, and flow the simplicity (relatively speaking) of the puzzles fit in like a charm. I would highly recommend playing with a headset, and to do as much as you can in one sitting. That's the best experience you can have, one without interrupt. Which is part of the reason why I like the fact that the puzzles aren't so challenging that you'll be stuck over a longer period of time. I would recommend this game fullheartedly.
