POSTAL 2

Jank, jank, jank...

Sure it's a good game for goofing around in with quite a bunch of challenge, but there are a bunch of bugs and glitches like various game crashes, stuttering, FPS drops, getting stuck and not getting teleported, getting lit on fire through solid surfaces, not being able to shoot through open doors etc. that take away from the experience... Need full on silence? Mute the game through your operating system, some audio still plays even if you turn the music and sound to 0 in-game. No way to limit the FPS in-game either, making it run at ridiculously high frames. Some other grievances I have with this game are being unable to do anything for a second or two when loading a save, leading to some unsavory moments when the game has saved while you're in a firefight. Ladders can get rather tedious too, jumping off a ladder flings you 6 feet into the air for example, the lack of sideways movement to adjust your position can be a real pain in the angus too, for example you weren't centered enough during a long climb and got stuck on something.. On the topic of firefights, the gunplay is near ridiculous. The rifle sprays all over the place while the pistol shoots near perfectly even while jumping, the shotgun is good up close if you're shooting only the NPCs, Somehow police for example can they tank an entire shotgun blast to the head when they're not wearing any hats or helmets etc?! Throwables are a hassle too if you're not familiar with how the charge up of the throw works.. I hate the halloween mode, it spawns skeletons way too aggressively and gets rid of the ATF machines, good luck trying to collect signatures when a skeleton runs behind you and blows you up... Doesn't help you can't really kill the skeletons with anything else than the pitchfork. If you can look past all this, there's still some fun to be had with achievement hunting, exploring the map and its buildings for easter eggs etc. with a wide variety of difficulties, giving everyone something. DLC Paradise Lost felt even more buggy and sucky than the base game, with some enemies able to spam rockets impossibly fast, more FPS drops, getting pushed around and off of props constantly and more.. Also, some, if not all the postal 2 achievements are just copy pasted into the DLC Paradise Lost, like for example "Uncle T-Bag", I keep getting spawned in the same jail cell, is it even possible to get the achievement in this DLC? I'd rate the DLC 2/5.
