Let's drive car. Let's fist fight enemies. Let's hold E to loot scrap. Let's hold E to refill water. Repeat 100x. Dialogue outside of cutscenes basically doesn't exist. You can fight 20 enemies, clear the camp, nobody will say a word, not Max, not people that move in, nothing. It feels empty in the wrong way (Wasteland should be empty). It feels like there's nothing there, no conversations, no Max's monologue, no comments from random people, nothing, there is just nothing. Game feels like someone took 2 things (car driving and fist fighting) and copied that dozens of times. And then called it a day. And the camera shake. Oh my god the camera shake. I do poorly on shaking camera, get a bit nauseous. This game swaaaaaaays like you're drunk on a ship on high seas. you drive a car, camera is left, right, up, down, swaying like crazy. You fight, camera jumps as if this is crazy action movie, not something where you'd appreciate stability and control. Ugh, I'm done. Went with low expectations, but this is just terrible.
Let me hear bugs. BUGS! Let me hear performance problems. PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS! Let me hear jokes. JOKES! Seriously though, this game is a mess. W2 was flawed, very flawed, but I loved it. W3 took lots of steps forwards, but for whatever reason, it also took even more steps backwards. There''s definitely some sort of memory leak going on, because any game session longer than 2h leads to game becoming slideshow with sub 30fps performance (decent rig, 5600x, 3080FE, 32gb ram). Restarting the game sorts it out. NPCs have all become clowns (some literally) and if you expect any of them to talk in normal manner, this is a wrong game. I've also experienced way more bugs in first 25h of this game than in entire W2. I'll keep playing it, since it is kind of unique and I enjoy gameplay (like I mentioned, lots of steps forward from W2), but man this is a painful experience.
Ouch, sad to say this one is officially trash tier. It's a poor shooter (Space Marines are obviously most inacurate shooters in universe), it's SO. PAINFULLY. SLOW. It seems terminator armor can't go at jog speed or, emperor forbid, run, for more than 5 seconds before taking 30 seconds to recharge, so you're slowly walking these massive empty areas with nothing to do. It's bad, it's terribly bad and there's no reason to waste any time on it.
After only 4.5h I've realized I am forcing myself to play this thing. I've heard all about it not being like old KB games (Legend, Crossworld etc.)., so I waited for heavy discount before buying it. For 10€, how bad can it be? Well, bad. Let's start with positive: It's a better game than Dark Side. In that it actually works, sound exists, quests work and it's not a broken mess. Let's move to negatives: - It's sooooooooooo boring. Everyone tries to act super serious while giving bland quests, having bland facial expressions, books are bland, lore is bland, characters are god awful. - Story is a mess. You're accused of poisoning a king. But a bad thing happens near capital so prince wants you to investigate it so you're out of prison. And even that would be fine if anything else made sense or was interesting whatsoever. - Combat is slow and not very fun. Gone are the days of massive weak stacks (oh glorious pixie stacks with 0 health and unlimited damage that evaporate if anything hits you, oh how I miss ye), it's small stacks of basic units with nothing but basic attack (or one special one), melee, range and magic. You can also cast f*** all spells, even with a mage. Which is understandable, since spells are only powerfull thing in the game - Massive environment with nothing, absolutely NOTHING, in it. Ever played Dragon Age: Inquisition and spent minutes going from A to B doing nothing? Got there, talked to NPC, then had to go back? Yeah, a lot of that here. Except movement is painfully slow, even on a horse. - Speaking of horse. MOTION SICKNESS WARNING WOULD BE WELCOME! WHAT THE HELL?!?!?! I genuinelly couldn't touch camera at all while riding horse. It wants to auto-correct at even slightest of movement, so it's jumping up, down, left, right, made me, literally, sick in the stomach. Only way to use horse is to not touch mouse while riding. This is not a good Kings Bounty game. This is not a good game. Even at 75% discount, I made a mistake buying it. Avoid.
To start with, what's up with time played on GOG? Shows I've played for 15 minutes (meanwhile 10h in game...) Anyway, let's start with positives: - So many pop-ups (of good kind). Game constantly checks for stuff. Did your character recognize events, pictures, body language of people you're talking with and so on. It's borderline insane how much of those you're see (or won't, depending on RNG) - Voice acting - Impressive. Amazing. Brilliant. Perfect. (minus points for narration, which just doesn't fit the tone) - Choices - I could drone on and on about this one, but let's just say "WHAT THE HELL!" and leave it at that Now for few negatives: - To quote good old Starship Troopers: BUUUUUGS, BUUUUUUUUGS! I've got the game on hold until a fix comes out for one of the companion quests. Can't talk to NPC, can't progress. Waiting time. - Combat - Way, way, waaaay too slow when there are a lot of characters present. If you've played Wrath of The Righteous and remember inn defense mission, where each turn took 2 minutes of NPC actions, that happens too frequently here. - It's not Baldurs gate. Sorry, but it's just not. It has none of the tone of BG game. It feels and plays identical to Divinity: Original Sin 1/2. You can put this one to positives and add one more star if you don't mind it. Also a negative, but in separate category: - Horny companions - What in the everloving hell? Why is everyone so hell bent on having sex with main character? Why are all of the dialogue options either: A: Sure, let's have fun under the sheets right now! B: OOoooh, kinky, I love it. C: Back off, you freak of nature, I never want to see your face again, you degenerate. How about some friendly options Larian? You know, human interaction? No? Just me? Fine, whatever, be like that, but it's a serious negative in my book. Good game, but I'll be honest, I'm disappointed. Kinda just left me wanting to reinstall Pathfinder.
I can tolerate a lot of jank, bad graphics (old graphics), old gameplay, those are all things I'm perfectly fine with. But this game...this game. The guns have 0 impact. Enemies have no reactions whatsoever even when shot with grenade launcher (heavy bolter?) to the head. Worse yet, projectiles have HUGE tendency to just go through enemies. No, no, I didn't miss. Missiles just fly through enemy. Considering every enemy is borderline cheating (by running around like headless chicken and still 360 no scoping), and it takes 4-5 headshots to kill even basic PDF/Guardsman, game is borderline unplayable. Aiming is horrendous. You have a targeting reticle...but missiles will go outside of it 75% of the time. You can stand literally point blank to an enemy and miss. Often! Haven't finished it, thought I think I got near the end. It was just too much. Not worth the time or cheap, cheap, cheap price tag it currently has.
Beautiful city...if only there weren't missing textures, places you move to only to fall through map etc. Lots of NPC...if only they had any purpose and has any semblance of AI. Cops...if only they didn't teleport behind you anywhere you are. Indoors, roofs, cabinet. They're behind you. Quests...if only there was something more than "go to X and shoot dudes" Cars...if only they had weight so they don't bounce around like on a trampoline. After 89h inside of this game and finished main story, I want to go back and replay it again. Except I won't, because there's no reason to. This game promised so many things, too many if you ask me, and then failed to deliver even the most basic ones. Gone are the days of Witcher where you talked to NPC, got quest, explored, then made your decision how to end quest. Outside of main story this game has only 1 quest: Shooting people. There are some 3-4 side quests with actual story, the rest exists just to pad runtime. Not like you need to do side quests. Heck, you're better off not doing them since if you level up, even on hardest difficulty, final fight can be done in 1 shot. Yes, you read it right, 1 shot. I've seen bikes riding on top of persons head, I've seen NPCs fall through map during missions, I've ran into building like a maniac, shooting everyone I can see...then gotten bonus reward for doing mission quietly. This game could have been so much more, could have been one of the best. Instead, it's a broken mess barely worth your time. Get it in 6 months when it's fixed.
