Sure zombie apocalypse type games may be far too common, but I genuinely like this one because it carries over the planning from the first game (but as the title says it actually works this time...) and even changes it by switching the planning phase from turn-based to real time and then let's you take direct control or simply watch your strategies play out. Seriously, pick up this game while it's on sale if you can, it's only 2$ and it's totally worth it.
First off I just want to say I absolutely love the concept of this game -- getting to lead your own fireteam into an occupied building and planning out how to clear it is in my opinion the very definition of a tactical strategy game. It's a very simple and clear cut concept that I wish made it into other games... BUT that's what makes my experience all the more infuriating. How anyone could mess up such a simple concept is absolutely baffling, because I'm just going to be honest -- this game is f*cking broken, and no matter what I cannot for the life of me figure out how. Starting from the tutorial, I experienced no problems and completed it, then moved on to make my fireteam (which are called squads in this game for some reason but whatever) and launch my first mission which I couldn't complete because the mission froze halfway through (not the game mind you, it was working fine, no the actual mission) so I figured it must of been a bug right? no big deal I'll just restart and try again, except when I did this and assigned my operatives to their doors and ordered them to breach nothing happens. I am literally stuck on the first mission with a game breaking bug that hasn't been fixed. How anyone at GOG could accept this I have no idea as I've never experienced any problems like this before. I made the mistake of thinking I'd be getting a finished game when I bought this on sale, but obviously It didn't. Don't buy this, buy Deadline instead because it actually works and even if yoy aren't a fan of zombie games it's still got some decent strategy, but don't buy this, not unless you have magic powers or enough about coding to fix it yourself.
