This game is pretty special. Imagine Diablo 2 with screens of monsters mixed with Starcraft style monsters and command and conquer style base building all mixed into one game? Thats about the best way I can describe it. The research trees are huge, there are tons of different buildings+weapons and so much content you'll be busy for a long time. The game has been optimized so beautifully too which is nice. So far I'm blown away by everything about this game. I was planning on buying this from GOG but my friend rather nicely gifted me the steam version (but I suspect I'll still buy the GOG version anyway. So far, the only complaint about this game I've seen is people using unsupported and antique operating systems and that this game won't run for them.
First off, I was gifted a copy of this on steam by a friend who wanted to played "local co-op" (e.g LAN/direct connect). We were UTTERLY disapointed to find out that the devs had no idea what "Local COOP" means and found out that its couch co-op (in other words you need two pads or whatever to play). I also found out that to skip cutscenes you need to hold ESC for about 2 seconds rather than just tap it like normal. By the time I got into game and was getting about 15 frames a second (highest detail on a decent system) I had enough. I've already read enough about this game and how it's missing any kind of decent features like friendships, marriages, proper farming to know that I wasn't going to waste any more time. My friend promptly refunded his copy and the one gifted. the game itself is just a basic combat game with no fun combat mechanics and is advertised as something its not in ALL areas. don't waste your time if you're looking for something like Stardew or harvest moon with a little extra. The devs have tried to advertise this game as something it isnt and expect people to accept what it is.
*note* I was gifted the steam version of this game otherwise I would have purchased it on GOG.... It's pretty well known how lacking this game was at release and how it's now amazing. Well, this game is HUGE. If you like survival game, space games, building games etc then this will definitely have something in it for you. If you like all three of the above genres then you're in for a REAL treat. My only complaint about the game (and I've seen this mentioned a lot) is the game seems to think that you should have to have to hold your mouse button for a second for almost everything. There's no option to disable this and it gets annoying VERY quick. There's simply no reason for it and it just absurd. I hate to take a whole start off for this but it really is that annoying for many people. Great game!
Im in love with this game. Imagine being able to create the landscape like minecraft but have relationships with the villagers and do farming and quests. Thats essentially what this is all about. It runs pretty well on low end hardware which is nice and also supports multiplayer. My only complaint is that (at least in MP) its very very buggy. Quests cant be completed quite often and once this happens with a villager you cant do a thing about it (it has a console and admin commands but it wont help). Despite its problems its really fun to play and I've had a blast!
