The good: it's a strategy RPG that represents an almost-lost evolutionary branch of the old King's Bounty. It can be summed us a HOMM minus Civilization plus deeper combat. The gameplay is what you're paying for here - it's fun, open to a wide variety of different strategies (and hence very replayable) and also quite challenging on the hardest difficulty. Unlike a lot of games, it actually stays hard throughout - it doesn't peter out near the end, and the difficulty curve assumes you are getting more skilled. The bad: The plot, writing, and dialogue are so bad, they're awful. Maybe in German it didn't suck, but it does. The only good thing I can say is that it's easy to click past. The iffy: The game does have some balance issues - mostly in the sense that while there are a lot of effective strategies, there are also some ways to screw yourself over pretty hard. Paladins suck. I don't mind this, because for me part of the fun is figuring out this sort of thing, but it is totally possible to get 10 hours into the game and realize you should restart because you shafted yourself with your talent and spell selections.
